Lack of appreciation.

Funny how the mind works.

As I was looking for Tarot cards expressing appreciation, the cards pointing to the opposite came to my mind.

Here are three examples from the Anna. K. Tarot.

The Devil in this deck is all about excess, lack of balance and control. It is a clear expression of when we fail to recognize that we have enough and we go way overboard. A pleasure becomes an addiction.

In the four of cups we see a guy seated at a table. Three women are serving him all sorts of goods in abundance. Notice the posture of his arms, the expression on his face. Total lack of appreciation. He takes it all for granted.

It is easy to dislike the guy. Yet, if you think about it, most of us do it everyday.
We want a bigger home, or we want it in a nicer neighborhood. The fact that so many people in the world are homeless does not enter our mind.

We have a reliable car, but we don’t like it because it is old or not fancy. We do not notice all the people waiting at the bus stop in the miserable weather.

In the 4 of cups the young man has an abundance of wood and of something else. Three  people, stressed by the cold weather, look at him. He refuses to do eye contact. He is not going to share. He is greedy. He also has a negative attitude. He does not trust that he has enough. Even if he has plenty, he does not trust his fortune to last, so he hoards.
