Wheel of Fortune

January 13, 2020 by Anna

Wheel of Fortune from Anna K. Tarot deck

With the Wheel of Fortune guiding us through the week of January 13 to 19 2020,
the best approach is to accept the unexpected.

This week we may see big shifts in our lives.

Unexpected turns of events will change our plans. Flexibility therefore is an asset.

The Wheel of Fortune is that card in the deck that reminds us that destiny plays a role.

It represents those times when we find ourselves in the right place at the right time, or in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The card reminds us that change is part of life and inevitable.

When we find ourselves at the top of the Wheel, we may as well make the most of it and enjoy it, without taking it for granted.

When we find ourselves at the bottom of it, we need to remember that things can and will get better.

The key here is to keep in mind that there are things and situations we cannot control. Attempting to do so would be a waste of time and energy.

Expect the tempo of life to speed up a bit this week.

Try to keep your center, stay aware of your surroundings.

Be flexible, adaptable and try to go with the flow.

Once things settle, you will know if the spin pushed you farther ahead or behind.
Assess and deal with it the best you can.

Something else to consider is what you want, and how far you are ready to go to get it. Are you going to let go at the first adversity or are you ready and willing to make adjustments when the ride gets rough?
Can you be objective when assessing what you can control and what you cannot?

Last, but not least, there is an element of gamble here. I am not one to play the lottery , place bets and so on, but if you do, this may be the time to play, within your limits of course.
The Wheel of Fortune is finicky, it can be your friend today, but not tomorrow.

Wheel Of Fortune

September 21, 2017 by Anna

Here we are at the end of September.

The weather here is spectacular. It is sunny and warm and we may break records.

The lawn is green, lots of flowers are still blooming, the leaves on the trees have started to change colour and fall.

I am happy to report that I am doing much better. My back is not hurting anymore and I am back in business.

Last week I celebrated another birthday.
Some people don’t like to be reminded of such milestones. It makes them feel old.

Personally I love birthdays! They don’t need to be extravagant, but they are in my eyes worth of celebration.

Time goes by any way, it does not need our permission. I acknowledge my birthdays with gratitude for the fact that I am still here.

No, I am not that old, but my father passed away young and unexpectedly, teaching me that we should never take tomorrow for granted.

I always call those I cherish on their birthdays, because I am happy they are still in my life and I want them to know it.

Appreciating the wonderful weather, I am spending as much time as possible outdoors.

Today I have been gardening and I am eating on the deck or the porch almost every meal.

Before I know it there will be snow on the ground, so I seize the day.

I am also painfully aware of all the natural disasters going on in so many parts of the world and my heart breaks for all involved, people and animals.

One more reason to appreciate when the going is good, because the Wheel Of Fortune always turns.

To the many who are suffering at this time I send love. If you are one of them I wish you to stay strong because things will get better.

Looking at life through Tarot and Numerology. Part 1.

May 6, 2015 by Anna

Hi everyone.

So much is going on I could write a book.
I shall try instead to express it all through several posts pondering over numbers, Tarot cards and life.
I will be using the Anna K. Tarot deck.
Let’s begin.

Looking at life through Tarot and Numerology. Part 1.

Dealing with change

Dealing with change. Anna K. Tarot deck.

Dealing with change.

As I have mentioned in other posts I am in a personal year 5.
In Numerology 5 is about change, instability, challenges and opportunities.

In Tarot language the Wheel of Fortune comes to mind as a reminder that the only constant in life is change. Enjoy the sunny day knowing that it will soon rain.

In a year 5 when everything seem to shift, it is important to remember that while we cannot control the events surrounding us, we can try to control how we respond.

2 of wands and 2 of pentacles2 are about choices, duality and diplomacy.

The 2 of wands are those times when we are at a cross road and we do not know which way to go.

The 2 of pentacles reminds us that often we are under pressure to act fast and keep it together as we come up with a plan, or as we make it up along the way.

Tarot reminds us of the fragility of life.

November 14, 2013 by Anna

Tarot is a mirror for human experiences.
Practically every joy, fear, hope and thought can be expressed through the cards.

I am a strong believer in taking responsibility for our lives.
I often say that the future is not set in stone, that our thoughts, words and actions have repercussions in our present and in our future.

That said, I also believe that we cannot control everything in our lives. It makes sense, since everyone around us also has freedom of choice and their actions also affect the situations they are dealing with.

Some cards more than others reminds us of how fragile we really are.

The Wheel of Fortune, Death, The Tower and The Hanged Man, come to mind.

When I see the Wheel of Fortune
I am reminded that sometimes fate touches our lives. All of us will, at some point in our lives, be in the right place at the right time…or in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Death card
reminds me of the impermanence of life. People and situations valuable and dear to us, will sooner or later exit from our lives, or us from theirs.

The Tower
slaps us hard from time to time. It reminds us that most of our securities are just illusions.

The Hanged Man
is the moment when we understand the three previously mentioned cards and we surrender to those forces that are bigger than us.

The Hanged Man experience can take many forms.
We may just stay still and absorb all that is going on.
We may curl up and pray or hope for the best.
We may raise our arms and surrender.
We may observe, absorb, change our perspective and later on, our direction.

The moment someone wins a huge lottery, or misses the plane that never makes it to the destination, are positive Wheel of Fortune moments.

The day we relocate to another city or another country, or end a relation that no longer nourishes us, we are experiencing the Death card..

When a natural disaster hits and drastically changes the lives of people, we see the Tower at work, as well as the shadow or extreme of the Wheel of Fortune card.

What is the point of all this writing?
A reminder to live in the present, because the future is not a given.

Let’s rephrase our questions to the cards.

What is today’s lesson? How am I affecting the present situation? What can I do to reach my goal?

I am thinking that is better to try to live fully in the present, rather than being overly concerned or dependent on the future.

The cards are from The Ancestral Path Tarot deck by Julie Cuccia – Watts.

Reflections on the Moon card using the comparative method.

April 11, 2013 by Anna

We all have cards we could talk about forever and others where we get stuck on a few interpretations.

I have had a challenging relation with the Moon card for some time. It is therefore no surprise that it keeps popping up in my readings quite often.

It has been my experience that using several decks often expand our interpretations of the cards.

I have therefore decided to look at the Moon card from The Osho Zen Tarot, The Rider Waite, Ancient Tarot De Marseille and Sacred Rose Tarot.
My intent was to look at the Moon from four distinct perspectives.

Let’s start with the version from the R.W.S. the one most are familiar with.

Here we have the pond representing our subconscious. There is a cray fish coming out of it, a memory from our past.

On the land there are a dog and a wolf side by side howling at the moon.
The dog is our domesticated side, the wolf our wild side.

Should the cray fish get out of the water and take the path to wisdom (mountains) it would have to get past the two animals first, the two towers later and up a very long winding mysterious path.

It is no surprise than that most of us get back into the water and stay stuck in our repetitive automatic response to challenges and surprises.

We also know that the Moon goes through cycles that repeat themselves. We know that in the reflective light of the Moon it is hard to see clearly. We can often get confused by the shadows, see something and think it is something else.

My interpretation.

The Moon suggests we look at situations carefully. We may easily make mistakes, confusing our perception with objective reality.
We may be facing a challenge similar to others in the past. To get a different result we need to change our response. We need to go past our first instinct.
What buttons are being pushed? Why?
We may be going through an emotional time. Dreams may be particularly vivid. Write them down. Think about them. Our intuition may be working over time. We may be involved in esoteric studies. We may also be a bit moody.

Ancient Tarot De Marseille.

This one is the first Tarot deck I used. The pictures are crude and the Minors only show the numbers of the element they represent. 9 cups, 3 swords and so on. A good thing of this deck is that it is functional. The pictures are simple, everything in them has a meaning and colors are no exception. Pink represent what you need to work on. In the Moon card the dog and the wolf are both pink. Finding balance between our wild and domesticated sides are keys. In other words, engage with the wolf to follow and understand your instinct, your urges, your connection to the Natural world around you. Engage with the dog also. Let the rational, educated part of you, question your intuitive hits, your perception, to avoid becoming delusional or disconnected from the present reality, the society you live in.
Falling from the sky we have blue, spiritual research/ knowledge. Red is passion. Yellow/ Gold is understanding and awareness.

So the goal of the card in this deck is to become objective, by understanding that truth may be subjective, shaped as it is by personal perceptions, culture and experience.

Sacred Rose Deck.

Here the picture is heavy with emotions, like some dreams often are.
The dancers confuses us with her movement and incredible posture. The cray fish is our attempt to get out of the confused memories and repetitive patterns to find light, clarity and a new response. Given that it is a water creature and not a land one, gives us the idea of how difficult that goal is.

Osho Zen Tarot.

The Moon card in this deck is called Past Lives.
The picture is totally different. Two hands contain people/ souls of different gender, ethnicity and age. Below them are more souls. The image reminds us of a womb, the porthole from one existence to the other. Here two colorful lizards replace the dog and the wolf. The lizards are the guardians of the unconscious. Past experiences have shaped us and condition our present through our learned responses. The key is to understand the effect of karma, without getting distracted by the details of our past lives. The author says that gaining a glimpse into the past would be a gift, more would be overwhelming.

That thought reminds me of extreme interpretations of the Moon card. Meanings I would apply in the presence of other troublesome cards.

Depression. Delusion. Extreme confusion.

I would like to close this post acknowledging my faithful apprentice and assistant, my cat Lovie.
