Eight of Swords

February 3, 2020 by Anna

Eight of Swords from the Spell Caster’s tarot deck.

The Eight of Swords is the card expressing the energy of the week of February 3rd to 9th 2020.

This is an active week that will likely challenge us and keep us on our tippy toes.

We will be dealing with frustrations, restrictions and challenges.

The trick here is to be objective, look at the facts without letting our fears or insecurities distort our vision of the situation.

What or who is preventing us from moving freely and managing things the way we think is best?

Are the restrictions real or perceived?
Most likely some are real , while others we can easily overcome.

It is up to us to test those boundaries cautiously.

For a few of us the Eight of Swords could manifest literally with a real loss of freedom.

How?

Incarceration,

house arrest,

hospitalization,

rehab,

being bed ridden,

being grounded.

Learning from each Tarot reading.

The Druid Craft Tarot deck

Learning from each Tarot reading. Is it possible? I think so.

Today, I had the pleasure to read for a new client.

It did not start well. The cards were clear, but when I explained them to her, she could not see how the message applied.

Four cards telling a clear story that the client could not relate to.

I wondered if somehow we had failed to connect.

It can happen. Years ago I learned that sometimes the cards are right, yet the client fails to make the connection.

Since then I am not so quick to dismiss the message.

Today feeling a bit uneasy, but determined to do my best, I asked my client if she had a specific question.

She did. Guess what? Some of the same cards came up again and the rest helped the previous message come through.

Is all good right?
Well…not really.

You see, there are some cards that are very clear in a certain contest or to answer a kind of question, there are others that are not.

As an example, let’s say I want to see what kind of partner you are attracted to or need to be happy with.
A court card is great. It gives me a lot of pertinent information, while some majors like the death card or the tower or the wheel will make my work harder.

I assume you guessed by now that this particular reading was not an easy one.

In the end though I think the cards spoke loud and clear. As I brain stormed how to interpret a challenging card as an asset, how a situation could describe a partner, the pieces of the puzzle somehow fell together to reveal a clear picture.

The message from Tarot was not what my client had hoped to hear, but it offered advice that she will hopefully use to make positive changes.

All in all they were not bad cards, just a strategy to create the change the client wants.

I always make clear that I am not telling anyone what to do. I just express the perspective the cards show me, something for the client to reflect upon and make her own choice.

I am grateful for today’s challenging Tarot reading.

It stretched my thinking. It expanded my understanding of some cards. It was proof that I have grown as a reader and that I have learned from past experiences. It also helped me to apply what I have been working on for the past year or so. Staying true to the cards and yet try to be kind. Stressing how often something that comes out as a negative trait, is a positive one that is used in excess.

What I am most grateful for, is the client.

She did not hear what she hoped for. She received advice that require some soul searching and some effort. The message was not clear at first, yet she remained open to the process. In the end I believe she understood and valued what the cards had to say and she thanked me. She is a smart lady and it was my pleasure to work with her.

Tarot for yourself.

April 21, 2015 by Anna

Tarot for yourself

Tarot for yourself

Tarot can be used for many reasons.

It can help us understand the past, make the most of the present and peek into the future.

You can use Tarot for yourself or to help others.

In my experience it is easier to read for others than for yourself.

Why?
Objectivity.

I find that it is easier to interpret the cards correctly when you are not invested in the outcome.

When I read for my clients I like to have a clear question and no back ground information, that way I will not be influenced in my interpretation by the fears or hopes of my clients.

Said that, most Tarot readers and Tarot enthusiasts started by reading for themselves only.

I have been on the Tarot path since 1987, but I continue to do readings for myself on a regular base.

I find Tarot very helpful in figuring out situations, emotions, priorities.
Tarot can be a mirror. It reflects what you suspected, but could not see clearly.

When I read for myself I write down my thoughts and insights in the third person. When I cover the advice of the cards, I write it down as if they were talking to someone else. It is a small thing, but I find it helps in keeping me objective and detached while I interpret the cards.

Do you use Tarot for yourself? How? Do you have questions or suggestions?
I would love to hear from you.
