What are the benefits of knowing how to read Tarot? What’s in it for me?
Plenty, I would say.
I never needed a reason. I was fascinated by Tarot cards from a young age, but I understand that we do not all share the same interests.
Let’s say you have no intention of reading cards for people.
Why would you want to learn how to read Tarot?
To gain insight into your personal life.
To develop a skill that helps you shut down external distractions and focus on you, your plans and what is going on in your life.
To strengthen your intuition and your self confidence.
To get creative ideas if you are a writer.
To be able to assess situations in your life from a detached, more objective perspective.
Are you surprised? Are you intrigued a little?

Why do I like Tarot parties ?
Several reasons.
If you are considering having a Tarot party,
or
start doing Tarot parties yourself,
you may want to continue reading.
I know several good Tarot readers that will not do Tarot parties anymore.
Most of them have had some bad experiences.
Why is that?
At a Tarot party the Tarot reader is a paid guest of the host.
The reader usually is new to the venue where the readings will take place and has never met the clients.
The reader depends on the host to do a good job.
Some complaints I have heard from Tarot readers are uncomfortable surroundings, not being paid enough, scary clients, wasted time.
I have been doing Tarot readings now for several years and I love them.
Of course some parties are nicer than others, but I enjoy them all.
I have a theory of why Tarot parties work for me.
I do a lot of work ahead of them. How?
I communicate a lot and clearly with the host ahead of the party.
I explain what I do and what I cannot do.
I am clear on what I need from the host to be at my best.
I tell the host of the party that my deal is with her not her guests.
We iron the deal ahead of time.
How long I will be there.
How many readings I will do.
How much I will be paid, when and how.
The host is responsible to get her guests in the room I will be working in, one after the other without wasting precious time.
When I work in my home office I usually have much more time at my disposal.
I don’t usually do hours of readings all in a row.
I do get clients that are new to Tarot as well as others that are very familiar with it.
At parties most clients are Tarot virgins. They are not familiar with the cards and on how to formulate questions. They are not familiar with my style.
I find that starting with a brief introduction helps put the guests at ease, as well as speed up the readings later on.
I accept that I may end up working longer than I bargained for. All it takes are a couple of difficult readings or nervous clients.
My main goal is to do my best and give everyone a positive experience, myself included.
What’s in it for the host you may ask?
We know that she takes on work and responsibilities. Why?
A Tarot party is fun and engaging. It gets the guests excited and talking.
It is great by itself or as an add on to any party. Think birthdays, bridal showers, graduations, Halloween. New years eve is another great time . Everyone is curious about the new year.
What are they going to leave behind? What is coming in?
I offer my hosts a complimentary Numerology reading. Most of them are not familiar with Numerology, but they usually fall in love with it.

Hello everyone.
After about a week of gorgeous weather, the sky has turned grey and the temperature has dropped.
I have been gardening like crazy and I must say that we need rain.
The soil is very dry.
I am enjoying my new office and I cannot wait to show it to you.
Be aware that it is now on the first floor. If you have difficulties climbing stairs please let me know when you book your appointment and I will set up for you on the main floor.
Lately I have been doing more Tarot readings over the phone and I must say I like them.
In person readings are my favourite, but phone readings work well too.
I like readings by phone because the energy of the client travels beautifully through his/her voice.
I also like them because they are very easy to schedule around my day and my family.
Phone readings are easier to schedule for odd hours appointments, or to fit a short reading in a busy day.
So, if you are hesitant about having a Tarot reading done over the phone, relax, it can be just as good.
Last, but not least, my next Tarot share is coming up.
The meeting is open to anyone wanting to learn more about Tarot or wanting to share his/ her knowledge. Playing with Tarot are not formal classes. They are a time to connect with others who love Tarot. Two hours to talk and read Tarot together.
The date is Sunday, May 24. For the time and more info visit The Meet Up Guelph Tarot and Energy Healing group.
Thank you for your time. Be well.

Personal year 5. The Hierophant.
2015 is a personal year 5 for me. In Tarot that translates into Major Arcana 5, known as the Hierophant or The Pope.
In my previous post ( 2015 is a Universal year 8) I explained the difference between Universal year and Personal year.
I also explained how to calculate both.
In the following post ( The year of Strength) I explained a year 8 through the eyes of Tarot.
Here I am going to do the same to explain a year 5.
Each number has a personality.
5 is about instability, curiosity, change. It is dynamic, versatile, adaptable. It likes to try everything, go everywhere. It also likes to live intensely and it can go overboard and indulge.
In a year 5 we will challenge anything that we think we can improve. In a year 5 we will do well if we promote ourselves and our ideas. It is a time to grab opportunities, be flexible and quick.
Now let’s look at The Hierophant.
At first glance this austere card is almost the opposite of what I have just described.
The Pope is the person, or the institution that holds the keys to knowledge.
The Hierophant usually stands for religious systems, schools, indoctrination, big corporations and the traditional way of doing things.
The Hierophant is also about management and the importance of listening. A good manager, as well as a good teacher knows how to listen. Doing so helps the Pope understand how to reach his staff or his students.
Facing the Pope help us understand if traditions are important to us, if we agree with the beliefs of the religion we have been raised in. Facing the Hierophant we discover if we fit in or not.
In the Gaian Tarot deck the Major Arcana 5 is The Teacher.
The card is a radical departure from the traditional depiction of the Pope.
It is like we have already faced the Hierophant and decided that we did not fit in and that we could do things differently and better.
The Teacher is approachable, simple, grounded and down to earth. He teaches surrounded and aided by Nature. He teaches to see things differently, as in finding use and value in plants that are normally perceived as invasive weeds.
With the teacher we learn to view challenges as learning opportunities .

An opportunity to come together with other people who love Tarot.
Why?
To have fun, share what you know, ask questions, offer answers, share your experience with Tarot ( the good and the bad). Learning Tarot is not easy and it is often a lonely pursuit, but it does not have to be that way. Spending time with people who share your passion for Tarot will help you grow faster as a reader, it will keep you motivated and avoid burn out.
Playing with Tarot are meetings where you can show off your new Tarot deck, or perhaps view one you are considering buying. It is a time where you can suggest a new Tarot book you just read and loved, or ask others what they think of a Tarot book you are curious about. Here is where you can discuss a card you are having a hard time understanding. It is a place where you can try new Tarot spreads side by side with other Tarot readers. See where you differ in interpretations and explore why.
Playing with Tarot are not Tarot classes. The meetings do not follow a lesson plan. Here we learn by doing and from each other. I, as well as other readers in Guelph, teach. Let me know if you want me to teach you. I will put you in my students waiting list and contact you next time I offer my classes.
How did I come up with the idea?
After having been contacted several times by people who wanted my help learning Tarot without committing to my Tarot classes. I do not mind helping, but I believe in healthy boundaries and guidelines.
Please do not contact me through my custom form unless you want to book an appointment.
Check the blog section of my web site. Under Pondering you will find lots of my reflections on Tarot. My most recent posts are also on my face book page. If the topic of your question has not been already answered in one of my posts, please ask me on my face book page or at one of the meetings.
Last but not least, I host The Guelph Tarot and Energy Healing Group through Meet Up. You can join for free and meet lots of other people with similar interests. Once a month I host Playing with Tarot meetings. If you join the group you will be notified any time a meeting is scheduled.
Playing with Tarot meetings are also a way for me to keep in touch with my former Tarot students and offer them practical support.

The Psychic Housewives’ Handbook is a small book, 144 pages, that I read in a flash.
The author is Lorraine Roe, a former reporter and television producer, who developed her psychic abilities suddenly in her late thirties.
She is funny, in your face, direct. The Psychic Housewives’ Handbook gives information and practical tips on how to handle new psychic experiences.
I would recommend her web site www.psychichousewives.com to anyone interested in psychic abilities or experiencing strange things. You can find her blog there, along with those of other psychic housewives, and you can even post your own experiences . I like her videos on YouTube, and you can view them easily from her web site.

Hello everyone.
This message is for my clients. It is my way to say thank you.
I truly love my job, and therefore I am very grateful to every client for enabling me to do what I love.
When clients recommend me to their family and friends, I feel honoured and in need to show them my appreciation.
What I have come up with is a referral system. I hope you will take full advantage of it.
I am offering you a 50% discount on your next appointment when you…
a) send me two new clients
or
b) send me a new client, and write me a testimonial on Google.
You can use your discount toward a Tarot reading, or a Reiki treatment. You may even purchase a gift certificate for either service at half price.
There is no expiry date on the gift certificate, or on when you can book your next appointment.
Please, make sure that any person you send me gives me your name, your phone number or email address. That will allow me to be able to contact you, when you qualify for your discount.
Thank you again.
