The author of the deck is Kristoffer Hughes, illustrated by Erin O’Leary Brown, published by Llewellyn.
I love the Yuletide Tarot and I am going to tell you why.
It comes in a nice box with magnetic closure, and a great 312-page full-colour companion book.
The images of the cards are the same size of the pages, which is great, because it makes spotting the details easier.
The book explains the imagery of the cards, it offers keywords, as well as up right and reversed meanings.
At the end of the book there are some Tarot spreads that I have yet to try.
As for the cards…
Good size, they are not too big.
The card stock is not great, but it isn’t bad.
I suggest you take your time shuffling the deck, if you want it to last.
The deck shuffles well.
I like the design on the back of the cards, and it works well even when using reversals.
The artwork of the cards in general is colourful, the images are modern. They remind me a bit of the illustrations found on contemporary children’s book. Multiple ethnicities are represented.
The Yuletide deck is suitable for reading to young people, given the absence of nudity and scary images, with the exception of the Devil card.
Of course it would be a great deck to use around the holidays.
